BEDFORD TOWNSHIP, MI (Toledo News Now) - On Tuesday night, Bedford School leaders closely watched election returns as more than $3 million was on the line.

One issue on the ballot in Bedford Township was the non-homestead tax, which is an $18 million levy that businesses, anyone with rental property and anyone who has a vacation home has to pay. It definitely brought people to the polls. All voters helped decide the issue, but the tax is only paid by those specific property owners.

Nearly a year after Smith Road Elementary School’s students, teachers and families said a tearful goodbye to their beloved school, executive board members met to determine how to best utilize the remaining funds in the Parent Teacher Association’s account.

President, Michelle Nieman gathered board members together earlier this week to decide how their remaining money could best be spent.

MONROE COUNTY, MI - Construction in Monroe County is causing
delays for drivers.

Two of three lanes on I-75 between the Ohio/Michigan line
and the Laplaisance Rd. Exit are closed.  That's about 12 miles.

Drivers have been frustrated.  "It's a little
challenging. We saw some cars going off the ramp the opposite direction. Almost
got into an accident," said one driver.

The barrels are expected to be removed by Sunday at 6:00pm.
